Good in the Hood, a Minnesota nonprofit, is now listed on HeroSearch.org
They turn donated shoes into food every day! Did you know? Fifteen percent of U.S. households are facing food insecurity, and households with children facing food insecurity is at nearly 21%. Good in the Hood found ways to help neighbors in need. They also put good shoes on feet that need them. Through their innovative project, "Shoe Away Hunger", Good in the Hood collects shoes of all kinds. For every 1 pair of new or gently-used footwear received, the program is able to feed one person with up to 7 days of essential groceries through their Feeding The Future programs. Each month they feed over 4000 hungry Twin Cities residents with hot meals and essential groceries! How it works:
It is an amazing organization touching thousands of lives in our community. At the very least, you are recycling your shoes rather than having them go into the trash. At best, your shoes get a new life and you provide a week of essential groceries to someone who needs them. Isn't that incredible?? HeroSearch.org is proud to welcome Good In The Hood! Check them out on our search and put YOUR shoes to good!
