Think HeroSearch.org before returningThe holidays have come and gone, and like many Americans, you probably received something you didn't want or need - Clothing that doesn't fit quite right, too many scarves or hats, or duplicate toys for the kids. Before you return these to the store (or worse, stick them at the back of the closet) do something heroic instead! The coldest months are just beginning - Donate that extra winter wear to a shelter and keep a homeless child or adult warm through these tough months. Make the New Year or a birthday special for kids that don't typically have the luxury of new toys. Bring your kids with you to drop off donated gifts and start a post holiday tradition that is truly about giving - with no expectation of something in return, except the deep joy that comes with doing just that. Socks and underwear. Think of life without them! Yet we have drawers overflowing. It is funny how many such gifts are given this time of year so if you have a pair to spare, bring your new packaged treasures in to donate to someone who has none. Give body care products to youth experiencing homelessness. Travel size products can easily fit into their backpack so even if they don't have a stable place to lay their head, they have basic items with them to help life feel a bit more normal.
