Donation Collection for Homeless Youth

GOAL: ​1150 Meals before Thanksgiving

Final Tally:  in 1150 total items including  717 meals!!

On any given night just in MN, there are a reported 1150 homeless kids on their own.
​We thought 1150 meals and/or basic need items would be a good target.

Inspiration for the Drive

Inspired by a news report about kids sleeping under bridges, in mall parking ramps and even porta potties, we were moved to ask friends, family and neighbors to collect donations to help.
  1.  Shop or gather donation items
  2. Contact us on Facebook or Jennifer@HeroSearch.org to arrange pick up / drop off
  3. We will distribute directly to three locations that serve homeless youth
               YouthLink (Minneapolis)
               Hope4Youth (Anoka)
               Booth Brown House (St Paul)

  • Donate directly (to the shelters above or one near you) and send us a private message to let us know the amount
                             WE WILL MATCH ALL DONATIONS
                                              (up to our goal)

What Items are Needed?

  • Macaroni ‘n’ Cheese (cups) - These fly off the shelves
  • Canned / Cup Meals (Pastas, Stews, heat-and-eat meals) - Kids may not have access to heat or prepare food
  • Granola / Fruit / Breakfast Bars or fruit cups
  • Backpacks - They wear out carrying everything with them
  • Warm socks - most shelters close during the day
  • Gently used or new warm coats, hats, mittens, scarves - youth styles so they aren't ridiculed at school
  • New packaged underwear (a rarely donated basic need!)
  • Tampons
  • Toothpaste, toothbrushes
  • Lotion - hands get very dry out in the cold
