BRING DONATIONS - CHANGE A LIFE

Basics we take for granted are things youth experiencing homelessness go without.
Help us change that.

Bring donation items the morning of the race.
(We'd love it if you could bring donations - even if you aren't participating in the 5k)
All donations will go to YouthLink and Prior Crossing. Both serve youth experiencing homelessness.

Top Items needed:
  • #1) Men's boxer briefs  and women's underwear/bras (new). Imagine not having that basic that we take for granted. Especially while going to school, trying to get a job, etc.
  • The shelter often runs short - It’s just something people don’t think of donating.
  • #2) Easy-open ready-to-eat meals. Youth may not have a way to heat/cook, good water, or can openers so they need something they open and eat. If they are couch surfing, they may have water/microwave so Mac-and-Cheese cups are also a favorite.
  • #3) Gift cards, value $5-$10 (recommended Target gift card) This allows staff to reward kids who are working hard on their education or job search. Did your parents ever take you out or celebrate good grades or a milestone? These kids don't have that, and are working against incredible pressures. These little gift cards mean the world and allow them to get things they need.
  • #4) Full size sheets, comforter, mattress pad, pillows (new):
For youth moving into Prior Crossing, this will be the first time they can call something their own - not borrowed or scavenged, or lacking. as they move out of homelessness and into a new life. These are things that they will be able to take with when they leave Prior Crossing.
#4) Shower curtains - plastic with rings, plungers and toilet bowl scrubbers. Why? These are provided and will be things the youth can take with them to set up home once they graduate from Prior Crossing into their own, independent lives.
  • Other Needs: Deodorant, Travel size body wash and lotion (unopened), Baby items; diapers, formula, diaper bags - Several of the youth are expectant mothers with no family back up to help when they have their babies.
